The superfine cleaning of grinding oils and other cooling lubricants is indispensable for high-quality grinding results. This task area within carbide metal, high-strength steel, and now also casting processing is the domain of the modularly-structured MicroPur® filter from KNOLL Maschinenbau, Bad Saulgau. With it, degree filtration smaller than 3 µm can be achieved, and thanks to its special design, it works without filter consumables, which contributes significantly to its great economic efficiency.
For these reasons, the MicroPur® superfine filter has proven itself over and over again – from the smallest standard model, the MicroPur® 120, which contains two backflushable filter elements for a filter capacity of approximately 120 liters, to individual systems in 240 and 480 liter sizes, to individually configured, central filter systems for entire production areas. KNOLL offers an automatic maintenance-free desludging system (AK) as an integrated component for each size of these filter systems. It separates oil and chips and conveys the latter into any container. The oil is fed back into the machine.
At the KNOLL trade show booth at GrindTec 2018 (Hall 5/5110), the Swabian filter specialists will present the current models. They will demonstrate a system with shortened container and a sample MicroPur® 480 M|AK 25 filter module, which can filter a maximum of 480 l/min. In large systems, up to forty such modules can be combined. Therefore, the cooling lubricant volume of 19 m3/min is more than enough for 250 machines.
With the MicroPur® 240 B|AK 5 superfine filter, which will also be presented at the KNOLL both, the "B" stands for bypass operation. With respect to its outward appearance and dimensions, it is nearly identical to the standard MicroPur 120|AK 5 system, however it is not suited for the direct supply of a machining process. Instead, it provides additional bath care for existing systems whose filters alone are not in a position to filter out the fine particles. The MicroPur® bypass systems are functional as stand-alone units, that is, without interface connections to or interventions into existing controllers. Therefore, they can also be operated easily on other manufacturers' systems.
Unique: KNOLL combines the MicroPur® superfine filter in every size with an appropriately-dimensioned AK sludge concentrator, which ensures automatic sludge discharge Therefore, no manual interventions are required and filter systems can be run without any operators. If necessary, KNOLL also offers to integrate additional sludge drying.At GrindTec 2018, KNOLL will also display the VL vacuum filter, a high-performance filter for cleaning cooling lubricants during chipping working processes, which can also be used for fine processing and superfinishing. In addition to the "filter" function, the VL vacuum filter offers a "drying" function for recovery of the valuable cooling lubricant and reduction of disposal costs. Thanks to its demand-controlled filtration, it is especially energy-efficient. It can be operated with or without filter consumables and is suitable for filtering water-miscible and non water-miscible cooling lubricants. It is used both for individual systems and for modularly-structured central systems.
Furthermore, KNOLL will also exhibit a state-of-the-art CA 100 centrifuge, whose proven technology plays a large role in grinding oil cleansing. In many filter systems, it handles bath maintenance and prevents the concentration of fine particles. This system technology is also frequently used to retrofit existing systems.
