KNOLL Maschinenbau has been making pumps since the company was established nearly 50 years ago. First for its own use and soon also for external users, who came mostly from machine tool manufacturing. For approximately 15 years, with the MX progressing cavity pumps, displacement pumps for the process industry have also been part of the company's portfolio. In the food, pharma, and cosmetics industries, and in the chemical, color, paint, and paper industries, the MX pump has achieved successes due first and foremost to its design featuring EvenWall® technology. Here, the stator sheathing is adapted to the contour of the rotor, and – in the standard model – it has an elastomer coating with an even wall thickness. As compared to conventional progressing cavity pumps, this produces much greater pressure stability, less backflow, longer durability, better efficiency, less shearing of the product, and better suction behavior. Typically, the MX pump meets all hygiene standards; CIP and SIP cleaning are standard. The material selection, constructive arrangement of the O-rings and surface properties fulfill the guidelines according to EHEDG, QHD, GMP, and 3A.
In recent years, KNOLL expanded its offerings for the process industry to include additional displacement pumps such as the MS screw pump, a high-performance unit, which is designed especially for conveying tasks in the food and chemical industries. Due to its wide speed range, it is suitable for conveying both highly viscous media (up to 1 million mPAS) as well as low viscosity and even chunky products.
Another addition to the KNOLL pump portfolio is the FDA-compliant ML rotary pump, which offers maximum performance in minimum space. It also provides the best results with respect to reliability and ease of maintenance. These robust and maintenance-friendly rotary pumps are suitable for very demanding conveying tasks, like the ones that are part of daily business in the food, cosmetics, chemical, and color industries.
The KTSV screw pump is also suitable for use in process technology, for it is an extremely wear-resistant high-pressure pump for conveying and dosing free-flowing to high-viscosity media.
At Achema, in addition to its pumps for process industry, KNOLL will present displacement and centrifugal pumps that are used primarily in metal processing for conveying cooling lubricants and chips. The centrifugal pump portfolio, which is divided into the three areas clean media, dirty media, and shredder pumps, enables delivery rates of up to 1600 l/min, pressure up to 6 bar, and particle sizes up to 30 mm. The KTS screw pump is recommended for high-pressure applications, for it provides a rise in pressure to approximately 100 bar in just 0.3 seconds. Contributing to this are a so-called "world motor" with power of up to 30 kW, which fulfills a wide variety of national requirements – whether IE3 in Europe or NEMA Premium Efficiency (UL/CSA design) in the USA. In addition, it bears the China Energy Label.
KNOLL's global orientation is very important to the company. As a world forum for chemical technology and the process industry, Achema is therefore an ideal platform for KNOLL. Thus, in addition to its broad product line, the pump manufacturer will also display its expansive international network, in which KNOLL relies on its own branch offices in its core markets.
